Three days ago I cancelled my April 6th order for a KPA500.

I may order one yet, but time is not of the essence. When Elecraft announced the new product on April 6th, they also stated that the first orders would ship on April 15. That date has come and gone with no KPA500′s being shipped.

Delays occur – no big deal.

What is a bit disappointing though is that any requests for updates from Elecraft customers are ignored. In fact, the order page for the KPA500 still says they will ship April 15 which was 17 days ago… Continue reading 'Order for KPA500 cancelled'»

Me: Hey guys, did you hear about the new amp kit from Elecraft? I’m thinking about buying and building one!

DXer: It’s not really a “kit” – you’re just the assembly minion.

Me: Don’t spoil my fun.

CPA: It costs $2000 and you’ve got a daughter about to enter a private university. Do you think this is a wise decision?

According to various sources, Elecraft’s upcoming 500-watt solid state amp received the long awaited blessing from the FCC yesterday (3/14). Just in time for those IRS refund checks – mine’s in hand, awaiting the Order page to become active…
