Mountain Top Radio 2.0 available for order

mtr_v2UPDATE: Sold out in 15 hours.

Steve KD1JV made his latest kit available for sale last night. The MTR (Version 2) is $155 postage paid ($165 for DX).

This new kit differs from the original MTR in that is a 3-band rig for the builder’s choice of 17, 20, 30, 40 and 80 meters (80m components not included with kit). The original version was a dual-bander.

The 2.0 version also has an LED display, several firmware changes and an On/Off switch (previous versions just turned off simply by unplugging the DC power connector).

Like all of Steve’s kits, this one utilizes many SMD components and is most definitely not for the beginning kit builder.

Steve asks that people who already have an MTR to refrain from ordering until 1800Z today; those who don’t have one may order the MTRv2 now by sending an intial $10 via PayPal.

Mine will be for 17, 20 and 40 meters and will be built with camera at hand for numerous photos to be posted as the build progresses.

Unfortunately, as of 1600 utc, the new rigs are oversold by 19, i.e. 169 orders. So folks will have to wait for a 2nd run by Steve, KD1JV.

They don’t last long, do they. Too bad about them being sold out – I refrained from ordering months ago due to the fact that I’d built several ATS-series rigs. Looking forward to building this one – have fun with yours, Scotty.
