Latest video from Steve wG0AT

wg0atI’ve been a fan of Steve’s goat & QRP excursions for several years now.

His latest video is from Thunder Butte in Colorado with an ATS-4b transceiver. Neat to watch and beautiful scenery but what captures my attention is the trend of Steve’s videos over time.

They are now to the point of being ‘productions’ in that they’ve increased in complexity and visual appeal of those made in his earlier days.

In the video below, Steve uses a GoPro Hero camera mounted on a rotating egg timer. This allows the camera to slowly be panned across the horizon in a time-lapse sequence, adding an extra dimension of motion to the scene. Ingenious!

All this takes a substantial amount of time in front of the computer with memory-hogging editing software. Thanks for the effort, Steve – amazing stuff.

Sorry about the “119″ signal report!

Great video – this really makes me want to get into SOTA somehow, but I am still very much a novice CW op so need to get in a lot more QSOs – and get a radio I can take up a hill.

I think videos like this are inspirational to many. They also serve heavy portions of vicarious enjoyment to those of us who wish we had scenery like that in our backyard.

Thanks for posting the great video. Worked Steve on SKN on twenty meters. I was running five watts and he was running one watt. Just got around to sending him QSL card yesterday. One thing I like about his SOTA jaunts is that he doesn’t seem to mess with mini SOTAs, but takes on SOTA majors!
