Mountain-Top Rig 2.0 and PFR3 2.0 from KD1JV

By , November 1, 2012

It looks like Steve Weber KD1JV will be producing another round of MTR (Mountain-Top Rig) kits (description here) sometime after the New Year.

For the first round of this kit, users simply built their MTR’s into an Altoids tin – this time, Steve is considering having a small housing included as part of the kit like he did with the ATS-4.

Also, an enhanced version of the PFR-3 will soon be available. Thanks to popular demand and Steve’s willingness to listen to the masses, this version will use a rotary knob for tuning the VFO rather than the Up/Down switches used by current versions.

No word yet on prices for either of these two kits.

Those interested in following the progress of either of these kits should subscribe to this YahooGroup. Once the MTR kits are announced, they very well could sell out in a matter of hours.

When they become available, I’ll announce it on this site as well…after I’ve placed my own order ;-)

Thanks John for the heads up on the Mountain top radio. Maybe I can snag one next year. I’ll keep watching the website as things get closer. “72″ Scotty KG3W

I passed on the first round because Steve asked that orders be limited to those who would actually use them on hikes, camping trips, etc. But this time around, I’m hoping to snag one too.
