EME and LDE mentioned in 1935

By , August 10, 2012

I remember reading for the first time about Long-Delayed Echoes in the early 1980′s in 73 Magazine and thinking it was a hoax. After all, some of  the editorials in 73 Magazine tended toward sensationalism. . .and that’s putting it politely.

But over the years, articles in more reputable publications persist as do the occasional reports, usually from hams.

Although the main topic of the article below is on EME communications (the first EME accomplished by hams was in 1960), the most interesting aspect to me is that it alludes to knowledge of the LDE’s in 1935 – seven years after the first reported LDE by a Norwegian.

More details on that LDE and a list of possible explanations via Wikipedia, courtesy of fellow blogger Sverre Holm LA3ZA.
