SV2KBS: “Play CW like a girl!”

“A sketch I made for my beloved mode in Ham Radio, CW!” SV2KBS

I hope there’s an equivalent phrase in Greek to “a picture’s worth a thousand words”.

Anything I could ever possibly write about the fulfillment of operating CW is summed up completely and eloquently by Victoria SV2KBS in this sketch.

In a recent exchange of emails, Vicky not only gave me permission to post her drawing here, but also told me of some of her interests regarding the Code. For her, it’s not so much about CW (implying RF communication) but rather the code itself…by which she means the ability to copy high-speed Morse via various computer programs.

In her email, Vicky told me that she “finds a high-speed QSO with a friend to be a thing of incomparable beauty.” I hope to be at the other end of one of those QSOs somday, Vicky – but let’s keep it under 35 WPM please!

Spending more than an hour a day with MorseRunner, RUFZxp and other programs ought to put her in good shape for the upcoming DXpedition to CY9M St. Paul Island (26 July – 1 Aug) of which she’ll be a part. Actually, she’s been on quite a number of DXpeditions.

Vicky has a very informative and interesting QRZ.com profile as well as her own blog in English.

Thanks for the very nice email and sketch permission, Vicky - and best wishes on the DXpedition!

    Hi John,

I was monitoring CY0M this morning on 40m at around 02:30z the CW operator was extremely skilled, I then looked at the expedition web site to try and determine who this person was.

I have a strong suspicion that it might have been Victoria SV2KBS.

Victoria also has her own interesting blog site and she obviously is passionate about CW.

She certainly is an amazing young lady…….
