KX3 assembly photos de WG0AT

With Steve WG0AT’s kind permission, a few appetite-whetting photos from Steve of his KX3 assembly. Thanks Steve!

Morning John …hard to tear my self away from this wonderful lil rig this morning! Went to bed at 1AM and up at 5AM with headphones and a cup of joe already worked several stns! Too much FUN! Going out later for goat/KX3 hike and operate portable maybe catch u on the bands! 73 – Steve

The photos step through the assembly process, at the end of which, you’re treated to a video of Steve’s first QSO with fellow blogger Dave AA7EE.

I’m really trying to not buy one of these things but you guys are making it tough!

And for those who didn’t but are looking forward to reports from afield! (I had to choose between a KX3, a sub-rx for my K3 or a tower/Yagi – sorry Elecraft; you lost that round!)

Great photos of the build and it’s great this comes as no solder unit….just looking at the board it would be a nightmare to solder. Slapping boards together, adding knobs and so on is just fine with me for this rig. Good luck with the rig and may many contacts come your way Steve.

Thanks John for the post…make me hunger for some overtime to get me one of these!!

Thanks for the great photos KX3 build! Finally a new Yaesu FT-817ND arrived via UPS after a long wait. My wallet would go into cardiac arrest had I gone for the KX3. It was either the ’817 or a used IC-703+ At last I can get out into the field now and have some fun. Looking forward to you & goats future exploits
