A better way to read the QRP-L and Elecraft reflectors

Every few days, a person on either the Elecraft or QRP-L reflector asks how to unsubscribe due to being overwhelmed with email filling their inbox.

Or someone requests information that had been recently posted or discussed on one of the lists.

When I first subscribed to QRP-L years ago, I made the same mistake – subscribing without disabling emails. Many readers of this list are aware of the two options they have for receiving posts from other list members: individually, as many separate emails or via a daily digest.

There’s a third option – turn off email entirely and read each list via the web. You’ll have to change the url for each list on the first day of each month but this method eliminates email and allows you to easily see which messages you want to read, based on subject or author.

For QRP-L (user/password is “qrpl”), bookmark this address

And for Elecraft, this one.

And magically, no unwanted emails, yet full functionality with the ability to go back days (or months) to catch up or look for that message you lost.

Even better – I use Google Reader and subscribe to the RSS feeds of my favorite reflectors. Then I can go to one spot. Most have RSS feeds, though not all.
